Captivating Signature Holes
- 6th Hole: A challenging hole split in half by a natural ravine, offering spectacular views of this Maui golf resort.
- 12th Hole: An elevated par 3 offering outstanding panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and neighboring islands.
- 14th Hole: The second longest hole in all of Hawaii that combines tremendous scenery with course strategy through its double-dogleg design.
Course Rules & Etiquette
USGA Rules govern all play except where modified by local rules.
For players safety and course maintenance please observe posted information.
Any ball outside the mowed area will be played as a lateral water hazard, with the following exceptions:
- You may ground your club
- You may remove loose impediments
Comfort stations are located at the Café on the Green, 4th Tee, 10th Tee, and 15th green.
Please observe all cart and directional signs for safety and course care.
Please repair all divots and ball marks, and rake all bunkers.
Please read cart instructions before operating.
Proper golf attire is required at all times.

Tasked with overseeing the progress and day-to-day operations of the golf course is Makena’s Director of Golf Operations Timothy Murphy, PGA. His extensive experience in the golf industry includes stints as General Manager of the prestigious Ko’olau Golf Club on Oahu, and as Director of Golf at the Ka’anapali Golf Resort on Maui. He was also previously Head Golf Professional at the Waikoloa Beach & Golf Resort and Assistant Professional at Kapalua Golf Club.

Q: What is the pace of play for the course?
A: Our course is paced between 4 to 4 ½ hours. There are times when occasionally it can take longer, and others when golfers can play in less than three hours as a fast-paced single or two some.
Q: Can I bring a cooler filled with my own food and drinks to the golf course?
A: No, coolers and outside food and beverages are not permitted with the exception of bottled water.
Q: I have a non-golfer who would like to accompany me while I play golf. Are they permitted to ride with me?
A: Yes, we have many guests who enjoy our scenic course as a non-playing rider. The charge for a non-playing rider is $30 and the non-playing rider must be seven years of age or older.
Q: Can we leave our clubs at the golf course during our stay?
A: Yes we will be happy to store your clubs during the duration of your stay. The clubs will be safely locked in storage at the conclusion of each day.

Q: What is the weather like?
A: The average temperatures on Maui typically range from 75 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit. The weather at Makena is usually drier, sunnier, and less windy than the rest of the island.
